The temps here are HOT, and Annelle has only done one bike ride in the early morning. Tomorrow I plan to join her. We will take Jack (oh, yeah, the cat is with us!) to grandma's and get out before it gets into the 80s. There are lots of fantastic bike trails here, going all the way to the beach. Wilmington is way ahead of many other cities in that regard.
We debated about taking the camper and I'm glad we did. There are a few issues that we didn't discover on our 2 Vogel trips that need to be addressed before the 2700 mile epic. We are getting used to the size and how we need things organized for the 2 of us and 1 cat. I've decided I can cut my wardrobe down a bit, and we know we need a few kitchen things. But it's been pretty comfortable. I backed it in like a boss and I'm beyond proud of myself for that. I hope it only gets easier!
For those who don't know, Annelle wants to bike the East Coast Greenway from Calais, Maine to Key West, Florida for her 65th birthday. We start on September 9th in Maine and have a tentative route/stop plan that takes us to FL mid November. If you are somewhere near the trail you may be hearing from us!! It kind of follows the coast (route 1ish) most of the way. We have some rest days built in and some plans for weather related issues. Roxie will be our home, usually in a different campground most nights.
I will be the driver and occasional biker, depending on how the trail intersects with the place we end up for the night.
Annelle's blog is:https://abbikestheatlanticcoast.blogspot.com if you are interested in following her trip. I will post some as well. Differing perspectives!
Pedal on!
